‘Aaaand the WINNER is….’

Cue annoying and ridiculously LONG pause!

Anyway, before we get to the winner, let me rewind a little.

Yesterday my Mum, good friend and member of Team LDPT Mo headed off on our road trip to Scotland Business Awards National Grand Final 2019 in Glasgow.

After the standard coffee, squashies, banter, illegal parking and cheeky car change to get glammed up.

We were ready to hit the red carpet and champers!

Bring on the selfies and squats, lol.

This was it.

I’d been here at the National Grand Final an incredible 2 times before but had decided this year would definitely be my last year.

Just like the previous year, it was a sell out and their BIGGEST to date.

Out of the 1000’s of businesses who entered the awards in 14 different regions around Scotland.

600 people were there on the night with EVERY one of them already won their Region (including LDPT).

There were around 60 tables and was literally a room full of the best in business.

Competition was HIGHER than ever yet surprisingly I felt pretty calm and relaxed (nothing like last year!)

Fast forward to everyone being seated, an ice breaker intro and my Mum sprinting to the stage in her heels like Usain Bolt to win us a bottle of bubbles (mum you’re a legend…

The awards began.

Wowchaaa – there were a whopping 9 businesses in some of the categorys!

Much more than the previous 2 years I’d been here.

Yet…

There was me casually drinking my bubbles on a school night, basking in the company of our table and celebrating LDPT’s 8th Birthday.

Then.

Out of the blue (my award is usually almost last and we hadn’t even had dinner)

BEST FITNESS BUSINESS

Not gonna lie, at this point my heart did skip a beat.

Between the unecessary drum roll and suspense music – you’d be lying if you said yours didn’t.

‘Aaaaaand the WINNER is…’

Yuuup, unfortunately they didn’t say LDPT this time.

How do you feel about that then Lee?

Don’t get me wrong, it would have been truly amazing to have won and the icing on LDPT’s 8th birthday cake but…

Simply being a finalist in Scotland’s National Business Awards for the 3rd year running was a MASSIVE achievement both professionally and personally for me.

‘Are you not upset?’.

No, because this year was simply a bonus and one I hadn’t even planned to enter.

The ‘REAL’ goal was winning last year which woohoo got smashed.

One of the biggest motivation killers?

Thinking of all the things you HAVEN’T achieved instead of focusing on how far you’ve come and all the things you HAVE.

And one of the BEST things about losing.

Is the motivation, inspiration and drive to be even BETTER than before!!

And hey, I got to spend some QT and share an amazing experience with my mum and friend.

I met some fantastic people, ate good food and had a great night celebrating.

When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

And what’s even more amazing is the support and kinds words from everybody, it’s pretty hard to be upset when you’re surrounded by so much positivity.

Lee ‘feeling proud and loved’ Donald x

P.s

I haven’t forgotten.

As part of celebrating 8 years in business said I’d have a ‘too good not to grab’ special offer for you this week.

Stay tuned : )
